New Sim: Jade

I've uploaded a few sims to the exchange before because I enjoy making sims. Now I've decided to start uploading sims more regularly. I'm also going to add better pictures to them. The first of my new sims is called Jade. You can download her from the exchange here. You can also visit my thread on the sims 3 forums here.

I think the pictures could be better, so I'm just going to experiment with them and try and develop my own style.

I Quit Existence Magazine :(

So I quit Existence Magazine. Basically, the assignment I was given was nothing like the stuff I was told I'd need to do when I applied for the position. I knew I'd hate doing the assignment, so I quit. I've wanted to be part of a magazine for a while and I asked what I'd need to do if I got the position. It sounded perfect for me so I applied and got the job. I was told:

'The colour expert does 3 things:

1. Helps Editor + Co-Editor come up with a good colour theme to match the time of year

2. Writes a little article about colour schemes on different aspects (on clothes, houses)

3. Gives Fashion/Make-Up Experts ideas on what things to get (colour-wise)'

I then waited for months for an assignment and got this:

For this issue, I would like you to give some interior tips using the colours, Black and White. It can be modern or old fashioned, but you must give an example for each room and a little description under each picture. Your rooms are going to be: Living Room, Kitchen, Dining Room, Bathroom and also Bedroom. Good Luck!

The first sentence sounded okay. I assumed I'd be given pictures, and I could just write about the colours and how they contrasted, and say why this worked well in the interior of the house. Then I read the next sentence. I was never told I'd have to get pictures. That was part of the reason why I liked this job. My computer isn't great so it takes ages for me to get pictures. I don't mind getting pictures for my blog. That's fun, and I can just do what I want. But I just end up fed up and bored when I have to do it, and it becomes a chore. Plus I'm terrible at interior design. I would have really not enjoyed this assignment. I thought for this job I'd just be giving people ideas and writing articles.

Sorry about my little rant but I needed to say something and I haven't posted lately. I will be posting more again extremely soon. I've had tons of homework and hardly any time to play sims. I feel really bad.

Banner Competition

I entered the Unbound banner competition for the first time. I really shouldn't have left it so late, since I entered on the due date. I didn't win but I wasn't expecting to, since I'd used a picture of a sim that I had taken ages ago, and the sim I used had no eyelashes. The winning banner was great though, and I enjoyed taking part. I think I'll practice a lot more before entering again. So here's the banner:

Where have you been?

I never posted last week. You may be wondering why. So, it's basically because I haven't had chance to play sims. Blame my teachers for giving me heaps of homework, I've still got loads to do. As soon as I get chance I'm definitely going to get some new screenshots and do some editing. Well I managed too find time to quickly (and badly) edit a picture of a sim that I've had on my computer for a while. I know it's not great but the lighting on this picture was pretty terrible, I edited it though because I like it and I used one of my favourite sims.

If you're wondering what I actually did to this picture here's a list:
- I made her eyes whiter since they looked yellow.
- I painted nail polish on her thumb
- I drew on some eyeliner (badly) but it's better than it was. She looked like she had a black eye.
- I did a tiny bit of shading and highlighting. I think I was a bit scared to do much since I've never done it before and I just realized I only did the shading and highlighting on her face and hand. It would probably look better if the shading was darker and if I'd shaded her shoulders. You can't really see that I've even done any shading put there is proof! Look at the top left of her forehead. You can see where I didn't blend it properly and it looks dirty.
- I cropped it so I wouldn't have to do as much editing (I know I'm lazy).

Things I attempted to do and failed at:
- Draw hair. It ended up looking like fur. How do I make it shiny? I've tried everything and it just looks messy and has a funny texture like fur.
- Draw makeup. It just wouldn't work. She just looked like she needed a wash and I couldn't blend it right.

I also realised that I really need to practise my editing. I can't do most of the stuff that actually makes pictures look good. Any tips would be appreciated.

Finally Got World Adventures

So I finally decided to buy world adventures and I love it! My favourite location has to be China. It's just so pretty and all the places there are amazing. I really like the photography and martial arts skills too. The nectar making thing is nice but I find it a bit boring. The adventures are so much fun too! They just add so much to the game. I was getting a bit bored with sims because I just ended up doing the same things. But now I can send my sims on adventures and I really enjoy solving all the puzzles.

So overall I really like World Adventures and it's definitely one of my favourite expansion packs so far. So here's a lovely picture of my sim standing in a counter at the nectary in France.

Halloween Party

Since it's halloween soon I decided to make my sims have a halloween party. Sorry that its a bit laggy and the quality isn't great. I'll have to sort out the settings for next time.

First Attempt At Drawing Hair

So I decided since I've got a drawing tablet again I should try and draw hair on my sims. I know it isn't great since I gave up on the tutorial I was meant to be following and just did most of it myself. Also if you're wondering why the sim in the picture looks so plain, well I was going to try and draw makeup too but I decided to just practice hair for now.
